Bangor - Tenants at a Bangor apartment complex were evacuated Early Wednesday morning after fire broke out in one of the units.

Local fire fighters were called to Sunset Meadows on Sunset Avenue around 1:15 a.m.

Bangor Assistant Chief Vance Tripp says the fire was contained to just one apartment, but when they arrived, flames were shooting out the front windows of that unit.

Tripp tells TV 5 two people were sleeping in the downstairs area. They, along with the other residents in the building were able to get out safely with the help of Bangor Police.

Bangor fire fighters were able to knock down the fire quickly and the damage was contained to the one unit.

There has been no word yet on a cause.
