 Albert C. "Pete" Martelle

HERMON - Albert "Pete" C. Martelle, 69, died unexpectedly March 13, 2011, at his home. He was born May 16, 1941, in Gainesville, Fla., son of George and Grace (Wilson) Martelle. Pete grew up in a military family living in the U.S., the Far East and Europe, but always felt Lyndonville, Vt., was his home. He spent his working career with Bangor Fire Department, retiring as a captain in 1993. Pete was an avid sports lover, enjoying local men's softball, the Red Sox, the Boston Bruins and the New England Patriots. He also enjoyed working for many years at Bangor Auditorium during the high school basketball tournaments. Pete is survived by his wife, Jeanette (Crane) Martelle; his son, Richard Martelle, both of Hermon; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Adam Martelle; mother-in-law, Marjorie Crane; sister-in-law and her husband, Margaret and Bill Ferris, all of Bucksport; brother-in-law and his wife, David Crane and Kathy of Lamoine; and three nieces, Jennie Bridges of Verona, Tracie Crane of Hancock and Kim Crane of Franklin. He leaves extended family, friends and loved ones. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Maj. George Wilson Martelle, U.S. Air Force. A memorial reception will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, at the Family Reception of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor.
